Solution Concentration Calculator

Calculate mass/volume percent, weight percent, and g/L concentration of solutions.

How It Works

Enter the mass of solute and the volume or mass of solution. The calculator computes three common concentration units: mass/volume percent (w/v%), mass percent (w/w%), and grams per liter (g/L).

Formula

w/v% = (g solute / mL solution) × 100 | w/w% = (g solute / g solution) × 100

Examples

5 g NaCl in 100 mL = 5% w/v | 10 g glucose in 200 g solution = 5% w/w

Frequently Asked Questions

What is w/v percent?

Weight/volume percent (w/v%) is grams of solute per 100 mL of solution. A 5% NaCl solution has 5 g NaCl in 100 mL.

What is w/w percent?

Weight/weight percent (w/w%) is grams of solute per 100 g of solution. Used when density makes volume measurement impractical.

How do I calculate g/L concentration?

Divide the mass of solute (g) by the volume of solution (L). This is the same as w/v% × 10.
